This decorative desktop globe has an Old World cartographic style — soft, yellowed paper map with muted colors that read as genuinely antique, set on a warm wood base. It spins with a little encouragement. Note that the overlapping map panels are not perfectly aligned, which is part of its decorative (rather than academic) character, and the roughness of the wood base is entirely in keeping with the intentionally aged aesthetic. We styled it on our fireplace mantel last fall and it was perfect — scaled just right for a narrow space or a vignette anchor.
