Each glass is mouth-blown and hand-cut, with a diamond-faceted bowl and a cut, multisided stem. These glasses carry no maker's mark, so they are identified by the pattern's distinctive cutting. Photographed in diverse lighting to highlight every feature.
Claret glasses were traditionally made for serving red Bordeaux, and their size suits a generous pour of any full-bodied red. A lovely gift for a wine lover, a new homeowner, or anyone building a collection of European crystal.
Christinenhütte glassware is associated with Schott Zwiesel, from the Bavarian Forest town of Zwiesel, where glassmaking runs back to 1872. Schott acquired the Zwiesel glassworks in 1927, and the company took the Schott Zwiesel name in 1972. Allegro is a discontinued pattern, now sought out through replacement services, so a perfect pair is a good find.
