The Ba-Bee Ring design was originally sculpted in 1935 by Reinhold Unger, based on the artwork of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel, whose gentle depictions of childhood became the foundation for Goebel's entire Hummel line. The reverse mark on this piece — a small blue "V" with a minimalist, geometric bee — identifies it as TMK-3, the "Stylized Bee" trademark Goebel used from 1957 to 1964. After the postwar boom, Goebel simplified its earlier, more detailed "Full Bee" stamp into this cleaner mid-century mark, making pieces like this one a direct link to that transitional era in the company's history. Surviving examples from this specific window with no chips or structural wear are increasingly hard to find.
