Amber glass has a way of making any light look like autumn — and Viking's Epic pattern does it with particular grace.

Made in New Martinsville, West Virginia, this footed candy dish is from Viking's beloved Epic line — a distinctly mid-century design where the bowl forms a six-petal flower when viewed from above, with matching petal indentations ringing the foot below. Unmarked, as Viking pieces often are, but unmistakable to those who know the pattern. The warm honey amber glows beautifully in natural light and translates effortlessly from fall tablescapes to year-round display.

Also known as a Comport, today we use the terms Compote and Comport interchangeably, however, "Comport" is essentially an older, 16th-century variation and some collectors and antique dealers still search for "compote" for deeper, sometimes lidded vessels, and "comport" for these shallower, flatter vessels.

Lovely on a sideboard, side table, or mantle — filled with potpourri, small stones, jewelry, or simply left empty to catch the light. A thoughtful gift for the glass collector, the amber lover, or anyone with an eye for mid-century form.
