Toyo Glass Company, founded in 1878 during Japan's Meiji era, produced this amber glass dessert set sometime before their 1957 merger with Sasaki Glass — making it a true pre-merger piece. The five bowls have a distinctive bark-like exterior texture, smooth inside, in deep warm amber that glows beautifully in candlelight. Each comes with a two-pronged stainless steel fork with a Bakelite handle shaped like bamboo — period-perfect and entirely intact. The box itself reads "TOYO'S BOWL SET, Toyo Glass Company Ltd." A set like this in this condition is exceptional.
