Bright yellow with white veining running through a high-gloss glaze, embossed leaf veins across the surface, and a form that looks like something from a garden brought indoors. Please note there is a small chip under one of the leaf points, slightly visible from certain angles — details in the condition notes below.
The mark on the base reads simply Made in USA No. 7 — one of the many California potteries that produced utilitarian and decorative wares in the 1940s and 50s without attaching a maker's name. Collectors of this category, which broadly goes by "California USA Pottery," tend to seek by design and feel rather than maker — and this piece has both in good measure. Deep enough for nuts, candy, or jewelry; handsome enough to sit empty on a shelf or in a vignette.
A spirited mid-century accent for a kitchen, sunroom, or seasonal display, or a find for a California pottery collector.
