Decorative Bowl, Encased in Pewter, Roosters, Vintage Japan

• Details:  Strikingly beautiful oriental/Asian artisan decorative bowl.  Bright, gorgeous colors, reds, blues and greens as the primary colors with some added pinks and yellow, beautifully edged in gold.  The picture depicts 4 roosters in the center, all hand painted in great detail.  The bowl is encased in a pewter, we believe these pewter cases became popular because they were less likely to brake during export.  Should be used for decoration only, there is a back-stamp that clearly states this and with good reason, back then they still used LEAD paint so this piece should never be used with food.  The back-stamp also states this is Japanese porcelain, hand painted in Hong Kong*.  Would look great on a side table or hanging on the wall.  Would make a great gift for the Year of the Rooster, unfortunately we won't have another one till 2029 but if you know anyone born in 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, or 2005, this would make a very unique gift.

*The Hong Kong porcelain trade hit its peak in the 1960's, with just over a hundred workshops in the territory. At this time the demand for Hong Kong decorated porcelain forced the workshops to also import white porcelain from Japan to be decorated in Hong Kong. Some trading agents specifically ordered plain porcelain from Japan. The porcelain trade thrived until the 1970's.
