This open sugar bowl carries the warm amber color and pressed detail of the long-running Madrid pattern. We believe this piece to be Indiana Glass based on the absence of a date stamp, though we've photographed it carefully so you can make your own determination — if it turns out to be an original Federal Glass piece, you've done even better.

The Madrid pattern was first made by Federal Glass from 1932 to 1939. Federal revived it in 1976 as “Recollection” for the Bicentennial, embossing a '76 on each piece. When Federal closed in 1980, Indiana Glass acquired the molds, removed the date stamp, and continued production — a rare case of one pattern passing through three distinct eras.
