Gold leaf. Embossing. Full color lithography. And it was designed to line the inside of a cigar box.

This is an original Canadian Club inner cigar box label — a 1930s chromolithograph produced by the Consolidated Lithographing Corporation of Brooklyn, New York for T. E. Brooks & Co. of Red Lion, Pennsylvania. The bright orange immediately commands attention, and the detail within rewards it: a gorgeous maple leaf — recognized worldwide as the symbol of Canada — rendered in rich, layered colors, a crest bearing what appears to be a beaver (Canada's official national animal), an ornate Canadian Club wordmark in decorative font, and golden dot edging throughout. Beautifully glossy, heavily embossed and gilded — an expensive label to produce, and it shows.

New Old Stock, never used, in mint condition. Age-appropriate yellowing on the reverse only — the face is vivid and pristine. A wonderful piece of Canadian-American commercial art history and a rare survival in this condition.

Frame it for a study, a bar, a library, a man cave, or a Canadian-themed space. At 8.0 by 7.0 inches it fits a standard 8x8 or 9x7 frame beautifully. Two available.

A wonderful gift for a tobacciana collector, a Canadian memorabilia enthusiast, a cigar aficionado, or anyone who appreciates the golden age of American chromolithographic printing.

T. E. Brooks & Co. was founded in Red Lion, Pennsylvania in 1914 when Thomas E. Brooks, already a successful Pennsylvania cigar maker, combined with S. E. Sechrist to form the company. Also known as G. W. Van Slyke & Horton through subsequent ownership changes, T. E. Brooks & Co. was one of the notable mid-Atlantic cigar manufacturers of the early 20th century.

Consolidated Lithographing Corporation was founded in Brooklyn, New York in 1925 by Jacob A. Voice and became one of the largest printers of paper labels in America in the early 20th century.
