This is an original Don Remo inner cigar box label — an antique chromolithograph from circa 1910 or earlier, produced by the Consolidated Lithographing Corporation of Brooklyn, New York for Apter's Don Remo Brand Cigars. Beautifully glossy, heavily embossed and gilded, with the depth and richness of color that made Consolidated one of the premier label printers of the era. This label is becoming increasingly scarce — original examples in unused NOS condition are rarely found.

Don Remo was named for Remo Loaiza San Vicente, an important tobacco farmer from Mexico whose name lent the brand both authenticity and exotic appeal. Very little is known about the Apter's cigar company — which makes every surviving piece of their ephemera that much more rare.

Frame it for a study, a bar, a library, or a man cave. At 8.0 by 7.0 inches it fits a standard 8x8 or 9x7 frame beautifully. Two available.

Consolidated Lithographing Corporation was founded in Brooklyn, New York in 1925 by Jacob A. Voice and became one of the largest printers of paper labels in America in the early 20th century.
