Seven bowls. Ninety years old. Still together, still lovely — that alone is worth something.
W.R. Midwinter's Madalyn pattern was produced in Burslem, England between the 1930s and 1940s in fine earthenware, and these fruit bowls carry its hallmark: a warm beige-brown ground with clusters of deep and soft pink roses, smaller yellow blooms, and green leaves, all framed by a gently indented semi-swirled border. Crazing throughout is expected and acceptable for earthenware of this age — it's part of what makes these pieces feel genuinely old rather than merely vintage. Matching salad plates and bread & butter plates are also available in the shop to complete a luncheon set.
A gracious gift for the Midwinter collector, the lover of English earthenware, or anyone setting a romantic, layered spring table. Mixes beautifully with pink depression glass.
