Milk glass body with a quarter-inch clear glass edge — this is Fenton's Silver Crest pattern, and when it comes with the large, generous ruffles you see here it's known as Double Crimped. Five inches tall with a six-inch opening, the round shape earns it the nickname rose bowl. This piece pre-dates 1970, confirmed by the absence of the Fenton signature mark that began appearing around that time, and by its provenance. The clear cut shut mark on the bottom is where the glass was cut to form the solid base. Any flower you put in here — real or faux — will look extraordinary. Excellent condition, no chips or cracks. Note: dark marks visible on the edge in photos are shadows, not damage.

Fenton Art Glass Company was founded in 1905 by Frank L. Fenton and his brother John W. Fenton in Martins Ferry, Ohio, moving to Williamstown, West Virginia in 1907. They introduced Carnival glass in late 1907, produced practical wares through the Depression and WWII, and grew into the largest manufacturer of handmade colored glass in the United States. Silver Crest was introduced in 1942 and remained in production until 1986. Fenton closed its glass factory in 2011; Mosser Glass purchased the molds.
