Blue-green grape leaves twist around scattered clusters of purple grapes, with platinum details catching the light — Pattern 6701 is one of the most elegant mid-century Japanese china designs we carry, and one of the most versatile. It was an exclusive for Max Schoenfeld, a Los Angeles-based distributor whose MS backstamp appears on pieces he had sole rights to sell — a small piece of California mid-century trade history on the back of every plate.
Made between the 1950s and 1964, these 6.5-inch plates work across a surprising range of table settings: formal, farmhouse, seasonal harvest, or casually mixed with purple, green, or platinum stemware and linens. Three available, sold individually. We also carry the complete dinnerware set and additional pieces in this pattern.
A beautiful replacement plate and a collector's find — condition is excellent.
