Ucagco was founded in 1850 under the name Abe Mayer & Co., with offices in New Orleans and New York, and officially took the trademark Ucagco (United China and Glass Company) in the 1930s. Primarily a creator and distributor of dinnerware and glassware, the company's Japanese agent, S.A. Stolaroff, signed the first postwar contract allowing imports from Japan after WWII. Ucagco was sold to Sammons Enterprises in 1956.
