A leaf-shaped dish with three-dimensional leaves in fall colors. Japan, mid-century, entirely handmade.

NIKONIKO was a Japanese bisque porcelain maker whose hand-painted pieces have become quiet collectibles — and this leaf-shaped bon bon dish is a fine example of why. The dish itself is leaf-shaped with a fluted border and a graceful loop handle; two hand-applied leaves in brown and green autumn tones sit in three dimensions on the surface, their texture richly rendered. Everything is rimmed in gold. The original blue "Hand Painted EW NIKONIKO Japan" sticker is still intact. There is one small chip on the border, photographed and honestly noted — it does not diminish the beauty of this piece.

A lovely addition to a fall seasonal display, a nature-lover's shelf, or a grandmillennial vignette. Beautiful as a candy dish, a trinket catch-all, or simply on its own.
