Kurt S. Adler, Inc. was founded in 1946 by Kurt Adler, a German-Jewish immigrant who fled Nazi Germany as a teenager and settled in New York. After serving in the U.S. Army, he started an import-export business, and by the 1950s began bringing European ornaments and hand-crafted angels into the American market. The company grew into one of the largest importers and distributors of Christmas decorations in the world, and remains family-run today.
