This little green glass toothpick holder has a history that goes back further than you might expect.
The Daisy and Cube pattern — also known as Stars and Bars, and originally as Flat Panel Star — traces its origins to the 1880s, when Belmont Glass Works of Bellaire, Ohio first introduced it as pattern #47 in 1884. The Bellaire Goblet Company followed with their own star-shaped variations in 1886. LG Wright, the celebrated West Virginia glass company known for acquiring and reviving historic molds, reintroduced the pattern in the 1940s under the name Daisy and Cube. This distinctive triangular, footed form in rich green pressed glass is a lovely example of that revival — and a genuinely collectible piece of American glass history.
A charming gift for the pressed glass collector, the LG Wright enthusiast, or anyone who appreciates a small object with a big story.
