• Details:  This vintage toothpick holder by LG Wright features a distinctive triangle shape with a footed base, crafted from green pressed glass. Adorned with the intricate Daisy and Cube pattern, (also known as Stars and Bars), it exemplifies pressed glass tableware design. From everything we have read, this star shaped pattern has a very long history going back to the 1880's.  Based on records, this pattern was originally issued by Belmont Glass Works, in Bellaire-Ohio (1866-1890), as their #47, "Flat Paneled Star", introduced in 1884. Charles Henry Over, a glass-blower, left Belmont Glass in 1876 to form the Bellaire Goblet Company (1876-1891).  Not surprisingly, in 1886, Bellaire Goblet Co introduced two patterns with this star shape, #601 and #600 today known as "Stars and Bars".  LG Wright, who frequently purchased old molds from other glass manufacturers, introduced this same star shape pattern in the 1940's, and called it "Daisy and Cube".
