One of America's first trademarks, reproduced on an octagonal tin. The boy, the raincoat, the NBC logo.
In 1901, the National Biscuit Company hired commercial artist Fredric Stanley to create a little boy in a yellow raincoat holding a box of Uneeda Biscuits — implying moisture-proof packaging, and in doing so, creating one of the first American trademarks. This 1970s Bristol Ware reproduction of the 1920s original tin was sold filled with Club's Choice Honey Special Mix Peanuts around 1979. Now empty. The octagonal shape is itself unusual and collectible; the NBC logo on this tin dates to 1923. Minor surface scratches; interior very clean, no rust.
A wonderful piece for the advertising collectibles enthusiast, the Nabisco history lover, or anyone who appreciates the deep roots of American brand design. A great conversation starter on any kitchen shelf.
