This is a vintage Japanese porcelain teapot in the Imari style by Miyako, made in Japan for the National Silver Co., circa 1970s–1980s. Richly decorated with traditional Imari motifs in cobalt blue, red, and white with gold accents and a gold rim, with a natural bamboo over-handle. The decoration is worth knowing: the Karakusa pattern — the twisting vine and spiral forms — symbolizes luck, prosperity, and eternity, from the vigorous growth of vines. The Hishi pattern (the red diamond shapes) means "Grand Generativity" — care and concern across generations. The Shippo pattern — overlapping circles — symbolizes a happy ending. Cobalt blue sections with gold spirals and white flowers represent abundance and rejuvenation.
