Details: This vintage Japanese teapot exemplifies the beloved Brown Betty style with its warm brown ceramic body and hand-painted floral detailing. Crafted in the redware tradition, however, we don't see red clay, therefore, we can only say it's in the style of "redware". Authentic Brown Betty's are exclusively made in Staffordshire, England, please be aware of similar items with high prices, being labeled "Brown Betty" or "Redware" when they are neither. This piece features raised colorful flowers called Moriage, that add tactile dimension and visual interest. It has a built-in strainer on the spout, the lid has a flange /lip, and it's very clean inside. It is stamped on the bottom: Made in Japan. We dated it based on the popularity of these imports, the mid-20th century (1940s–1960s). There is a minor condition issue, please see below.
