Violets on porcelain so fine it's nearly translucent — purple flowers with bright green leaves scattered across the cup, clustered on one side of the saucer and echoed gently on the other, all framed by a swirled embossed border and gold rims. It is a delicate, considered piece that rewards the kind of attention a morning cup invites.
The backstamp reads "HB" within a red diamond — a mark we have researched but have not been able to attribute with certainty, which is part of what makes this piece interesting. It is mid-century Japanese export porcelain at its finest: the quality is unmistakably high, the maker quietly anonymous. Some of the best things arrived that way.
A lovely piece for a violet lover, a teacup collector, or a gift for someone who appreciates the beauty in small, intentional things. Wonderful for Mother's Day, a birthday, or a housewarming.
