Koransha — the Scented Orchid Company — has been a Fukagawa family enterprise in Japan since 1875, producing porcelain held in high regard for its glaze depth and refined decoration. This small plate is newer, estimated to the 1990s, and originally sold in sets of four. We have just the one, and it was too good to leave behind. At five inches, it earns its place many ways: an oil dipping plate, an underplate for a small candle or pot, a jewelry catch-all on a vanity, or a detail in a wall plate collection or decorative vignette.

A charming small gift, or a quiet find for anyone drawn to Japanese porcelain and cobalt blue.
