Russ Berrie and Company got its start in New Jersey in 1963, growing from Russell Berrie's one-man operation into a major toy and gift brand. He created beloved collections like the Fuzzy Wuzzies, the Bupkis Family, Sillisculpts, and Trolls, originally designed in the US but made overseas. In 1973 he brought manufacturing back home, including a California stuffed animal factory that became one of his best sellers, before shifting production to Asia again as the company grew — including this piece, made in Hong Kong.
