Three Hummel school boys on every sheet — and the box they came in is worth keeping too.
M.J. Hummel figurines, based on the illustrations of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel (1909–1946), have been among the most collected ceramic works in the world since W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik began producing them in 1935. By the 1990s the Hummel image had expanded into licensed stationery, and Case Stationery Co. produced some of the finest — fabric-covered gift boxes housing proper correspondence sets designed to be given and used. This sealed 1993 set features Hummel figurine #170, "School Boys" — three boys in their caps and lederhosen heading to school. Never opened, still in original cellophane. The fabric-covered box itself is reusable as a keepsake or storage box long after the stationery is gone.
A thoughtful gift for a Hummel collector, a stationery enthusiast, or anyone who still writes letters by hand.
