Homer Laughlin's Virginia Rose is not a pattern — it's a shape.

  • Maker: Homer Laughlin China Company, Newell, West Virginia (est. 1871)
  • Shape: Virginia Rose
  • Pattern: VR-128 (Fluffy Rose)
  • Era: 1946 (backstamp dated)
  • Materials: Ceramic with platinum trim
  • Dimensions: 11.5" long × 8.75" wide
  • Care: Hand wash only
  • Condition: Average vintage. Paint loss on one flower; three chips on underside of rim; brown discoloration and wear consistent with age (all photographed). Condition not visible when in use on table. All sales are final.

The embossed scrollwork along the border was decorated with dozens of different decals over its 36-year production run (1932–1968), and this platter carries one of the loveliest: VR-128, later known as Fluffy Rose, with pink, white, and small purple flowers with yellow-orange centers and bright green leaves. Platinum trim rings the platter and accents the handles. The backstamp reads "Homer Laughlin, Virginia Rose, Made in U.S.A, M 46, N B" — dating this piece precisely to 1946.

A meaningful piece for the Homer Laughlin or Virginia Rose collector, priced to reflect its condition honestly.

Homer Laughlin China Company, founded in 1871 in Newell, West Virginia, became one of America's largest and longest-running dinnerware manufacturers, with Virginia Rose remaining one of its most collected shapes.
