Desert Rose is one of those patterns that never really goes out of style — introduced by Franciscan in 1941, it became one of the most beloved and collected American dinnerware patterns ever made. This 9-inch round serving bowl, the larger of the two sizes produced, features the classic hand-painted pink roses with green leaves on a warm off-white earthenware body. It's marked "Made in California" and dated 1964, placing it in the original Gladding McBean / Interpace era — before production moved to England and eventually China.

Franciscan Ceramics began as a brand of Gladding McBean & Co. in 1934 and introduced Desert Rose in 1941 as their second hand-painted embossed pattern. It became a runaway success, and along with Apple remains one of the most popular dinnerware patterns in American history. We carry complete place settings and additional serving pieces in this pattern while supplies last. Hand washing recommended.

A beautiful, versatile serving bowl for any season, and a cherished addition to a Desert Rose or Franciscan collection.
