German porcelain from a factory that existed for less than fifty years — and made things that will last forever.
These two antique saucers from Hermann Ohme's Louis XVI pattern feature a central scene of neoclassical figures — the flowing robes and graceful poses of ancient Greek women rendered in pale, clear-glazed porcelain. Floral swags arc around the border; a dark green and gold verge with embossed detailing frames the scene; the scalloped rim is dotted with embossed beading. The backstamp dates these pieces to between 1900 and 1920. The pattern is genuinely rare — if you are searching for replacements, this is a very happy find.
Porzellanfabrik Hermann Ohme operated in Niedersalzbrunn, Silesia from 1881 until the Great Depression forced closure in 1929. Best known for Clear Glaze and Old Ivory porcelain produced primarily for export to the U.S. and Europe. Display on plate stands, hang as a pair, or frame them — at 5.5 inches, they are intimate and exquisite.
