A lithographed nursery rhyme puzzle with real artistic pedigree behind its simple charm.
This tray-style puzzle, numbered 400 in the Walzer line, illustrates "Little Boy Blue" with artwork by William "Bill" Layne — an artist trained at the California School of Fine Arts who went on to work at Disney Studios before building a career in freelance commercial art and calendar illustration. A.M. Walzer Co. produced puzzles like this one from the 1930s through the 1950s, out of studios in Dover, New Jersey and Minneapolis, Minnesota.
A charming first puzzle for a young child, a nice piece to frame as nursery art, or a meaningful find for collectors of Bill Layne's work specifically.
