Small vessels have a way of making dessert feel like an event. This set of three pedestal cups from Franciscan's Desert Rose pattern is a rare find — marked with the Made in U.S.A. stamp that places them among the early California-made dessert cups of the 1940s and 1950s.

To further confirm the era, we looked at the significantly deeper embossing on the pattern and the more dramatic scalloped texture along the rim, placing them firmly in the most collectible era of the pattern. The warm off-white earthenware and hand-painted pink rose motif are as inviting on a summer luncheon table as they are at a formal brunch or dinner — excellent for serving sherbet, custard, pudding, and other desserts.
A sweet addition to a vintage kitchen collection, a charming hostess gift, or a reason to serve dessert in individual cups instead of from a baking dish.
