1911. Three children perched on a wall — two boys in blue sailor suits, a girl in a blue dress — firecrackers in hand, ready for the celebration. The letters "4th of July" are stamped in metallic foil. The background shimmers. Someone mailed this over a century ago, and it has survived beautifully.
This is an original antique Fourth of July postcard, not a reproduction. Embossed and metallic foil lithograph — the premium production style of the Edwardian postcard era, when cards like this were genuinely prized as gifts and keepsakes. It is used and posted, with brief handwriting in ink on the back, which only adds to its story.
Deltiologists — postcard collectors — know exactly what this is: a highly sought-after holiday card in very good antique condition, with minimal border wear and that rare combination of embossing and metallic foil intact after more than 110 years.
Frame it, display it in a 4th of July vignette, or add it to a collection celebrating America's 250th anniversary in 2026.
