The San Miguel Chapel is the oldest church in the continental US, and its located in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  Historical records estimate construction started around 1610, and it served as a community church for working-class laborers, servants, and soldiers. In 1680, the natives revolted and drove out Spanish occupiers and burned the chapel roof, but the five-foot-thick adobe walls largely survived the fire, which were rebuilt in 1710.  A 780 pound bell, named The San José Bell, originally hung in the tower and it's featured in this booklet.  Today the mission functions as a museum and historic site, still offering weekly worship services.

The Hermitage Art Company was founded in 1924 in Chicago,.  Originally an independent publisher of full-color lithographic fine art church supplies.  They are best known for their  historic and highly collectible postcards and their mid-century, vibrant "Artchrom" printing technique, (1910s – 1940s), lithographic and linen postcards. After operating out of Chicago for 93 years, Hermitage Art moved their headquarters to  to Anderson, Indiana, they are still in business today.
