Before plug-ins and reed diffusers, there was Andre Richard's "Scentomander" — a porcelain scent ball from the 1970s, perforated all over to release whatever fragrance you tuck inside.

  • Maker: Andre Richard, "Scentomander" line; discontinued
  • Materials: Porcelain; imitation picot edge and satin ribbon
  • Dimensions: 3"H × 3.125" diameter
  • Origin: Japan
  • Era: Vintage, 1970s–1980s (estimated)
  • Condition: Very good vintage condition — some crazing; ribbon frayed and lightly stained at center (recommend replacing if gifting); original plastic stopper intact; fragrance depleted, ready to fill with your own potpourri or sachet. Please review photos closely before purchasing, as all sales are final.

Hang it in a closet, nestle it among linens, tuck it in a drawer or vanity — or give it as a small, thoughtful gift to the person who notices these things.

This one is dressed in pink and white florals with an imitation picot edge ribbon and a real pink satin ribbon at the top, the kind of small domestic object that made a linen closet feel like a considered space.

We also carry a footed blue and white version of this pomander — browse our shop for more vintage home fragrance accessories to round out your collection.
