  • Pattern: "Pan Am 50 years of experience"
  • Vintage: 1977
  • Details: Remember the days when airlines gave out playing cards to keep you entertained?  Well in 1978 airlines were deregulated and competition increased, as well as costs, so eventually they stopped giving out playing decks.  This deck is hard to find, and more in this great condition.  It was made by United States Playing Card Co for Pan American World Airways (Pan Am), to commemorate their 50th anniversary and a historic flight (see below), in 1977 and reads:  "50 years of experience, Pan Am".   This card deck came from a collector's estate sale, it has never been opened, complete with 52 cards each, and two jokers (we love the joker on this deck!).  The box retains the original USPCC blue seal, there is no outside plastic wrapper on the box.  Perfect for any playing card collector, a retired airline employee, someone who remembers the good old days of  flying, or for the pure pleasure of playing with vintage cards.
  • Material:  Paper
  • Dimensions:  Approx. 3.5 by 2.25 inches
  • Condition:  Vintage - Used.  Very Good Condition.  This deck has never been played with, factory sealed, unopened, all corners intact.  The box has been opened, there is no plastic outer covering on the box, however, it retains its original blue USPCC seal and it's in very good condition with only minor wear. Please review all pictures and make sure you love this item before purchasing, we can't accept returns. Please remember these are ANTIQUE and VINTAGE items, they are NOT new, every effort has been made to show scratches, wear and tear and imperfections.
Pan American Airlines celebrated their 50th anniversary of the airline with a historic flight, "Pan Am Flight 50".  One of its Boeing 747SPs made a flight over the North and South Poles in record time, 54 hours, 7 minutes.  This flight stared on October 28th in San Francisco Airport.  It flew over the North Pole, refueled in the UK then landed in London Heathrow Airport, England.  From there it flew to South Africa landing at Cape Town International Airport.   They then flew over the South Pole and headed to New Zealand's, Auckland Airport where they landed, before taking off again, back to San Francisco.  The flight lasted from October 28-30.  The flight was repeated as many others wanted to make the historic trip.  The cost for the weekend flight?  $2,200 per person in 1977!  This deck is one of the souvenirs they gave passengers of this historic flight.
