Schumann Arzberg, founded in Bavaria in 1881 by Christian Heinrich Schumann and eventually run by three generations of the Schumann family before closing in 1994, produced some of Germany's most enduring decorative porcelain. This 12" chop plate — pattern SCH16, which we simply call Apple Orchard — features vibrant painted apples and nuts at the center, smaller fruit scattered along an embossed border, and a gold rim in excellent condition. The backstamp reads “Bavaria Schumann Arzberg Germany” with the blue E&R logo, dating it precisely to 1960–1970. It's equally at home as a serving plate on a fall or Thanksgiving table, a decorative wall plate in a farmhouse kitchen, or a chop plate for a generous cheese spread.
