The grill plate — also called a divided plate or compartment plate — was born in diners and cafes, where the sections made portions look generous and kept food from mingling. It moved quickly into the home for the same practical reasons, and then onto summer tables and outdoor gatherings where its utility was as appreciated as its charm. Anchor Hocking produced the Lace Edge pattern, also known as Old Colony, from 1935 to 1938 in Lancaster, Ohio — one of the most coveted Depression glass patterns for its intricate open lacework border. We have 7 plates available, all in excellent vintage condition.
