Not all Napco pieces came from Japan — this fishing creel planter carries the distinction of being made in Sri Lanka, a less common origin in the Napco catalog and a point of interest for serious collectors. The form is wonderfully specific: a woven creel basket with a trout and fishing rod rendered on the outside, the kind of subject matter that mid-century ceramic makers handled with genuine affection and craft.
The original Napco foil sticker is still present and "Napco" is embossed directly into the pottery — model #2413. Excellent condition, no chips or discoloration. Comparable Napco figural and novelty planters are climbing steadily in collector value.
The perfect gift for a fisherman, a cabin or lake house, a man cave, or anyone who appreciates the particular charm of well-made vintage novelty ceramics.
