Blown in a three-piece mold sometime before 1870 — and no one made another quite like it.
Three-piece mold blown glass was a technique used primarily from 1815 to 1870, and this antique pitcher is a beautiful, undocumented example of that craft. Embossed florals, leaves, vertical ribs, and distinctive dots cover the surface; the applied blown glass handle has a graceful shape with a curled end. The likely candidates for maker include Boston and Sandwich Glass Co., New England Glass Co., or possibly Stiegel Glass — but no attribution has been confirmed. We’ve photographed it extensively to help you make your own determination. Originally likely a syrup pitcher.
