The Saint Bernard — bred as a rescue dog by the hospice of Saint Bernard of Menthon in the Swiss-Italian Alps — is one of the world's most recognizable working breeds.

In the 1940s and 50s, small lithographed tin pinback buttons depicting dog breeds were popular novelty items and collector's pieces — tiny portraits of beloved breeds rendered in vivid color on ¾-inch metal buttons. These are original, not reproductions, in very good vintage condition with the expected wear of items now 70+ years old.
