Goose Bay, in the town of Labrador, Canada, was named for the birds stopping in the area on their migration route.  The town is actually called Happy Valley-Goose Bay, there's a military base there known as Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Goose Bay. "Goose Bay" refers to both the town and the military facility.  The base is small, used as a low-level tactical training facility.
