Trench Manufacturing Company of Buffalo, NY was perhaps the most important maker of pennants in America. Founded by George A. Trench in 1920, it was in business for 75 years. In 1958, when George Trench retired, the company was purchased by Robert Storm; his son, Thomas Storm, ran it for decades after. Facing financial trouble, Trench sold its novelty division to Fort Worth's Tandycrafts, Inc. in 1994, and the company was forced into Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1995. The Trench name continued briefly under Tandycrafts before being acquired by Rico Industries in 2001, ending the Trench name for good.
