German Dresden ornaments are some of the most prized pieces in vintage Christmas collecting — pressed paper, foil-stamped and die-cut into intricate two-dimensional medallions, originally finished with a "Western Germany" sticker now long faded with age. This one centers a blond angel beneath a die-cut gold star, tinsel catching the light from every angle.

Authentic antique Dresdens can fetch hundreds, even thousands, of dollars among serious collectors, and genuine pre-war pieces are increasingly scarce.
