A teal blue lacquered music box from Enesco's Currier & Ives collection — the lid decorated with the "American Express Train" lithograph from 1864. Open it and the Sankyo musical movement plays Swan Lake. Blue velvet interior, four rounded feet, wind-up key on the base. Made in Taiwan, 1991.
Currier & Ives were the great chroniclers of 19th-century American life — their lithographs of trains, winter scenes, and rural landscapes became some of the most widely reproduced images in American history. Enesco translated that legacy into a series of beautifully made collectible boxes. This one is in very good condition and still plays.
For a train collector, a Currier & Ives enthusiast, or a father who deserves something more considered than a gift card.
