A rare find from America's 200th birthday — this bicentennial mug by Berggren Trayner is not easily come by today. Made especially for the 1776-1976 celebration, it features a bold Federal blue eagle with a red, white, and blue shield on its chest, red and blue stars along the base, and a flowing red ribbon — the same striking design repeated on both sides. Signed "Berggren" on the side and stamped "USA" in the clay.
A charming and characterful piece of American pottery history, perfect for a patriotic display, July 4th vignette, or America 250th anniversary shelf.
⚠️ Please note: The handle has been previously repaired (not by us). This mug is best suited for display purposes only, not for use. Otherwise in good condition — no chips, cracks, or scratches beyond the repair.
Berggren Trayner was founded in 1948 by Arthur and Audrey Berggren in Libertyville, Illinois. Known for their original designs on mugs, tiles, and plates, they developed their own unique ceramic recipe over the decades. In 1986 they sold their designs and formula to Bergquist Imports in Minnesota — making original Berggren-marked pieces like this one a genuine collector's find.
