Miller Dairy was founded in 1926 by F. Lote Miller and his cousin in Cambridge City, Indiana, thriving from the mid-1950s until it closed around 1980. This pint bottle reads "Miller Dairy" beneath a sunrise on one side and "Try Miller Vitamin D Homogenized Whole Milk" on the other. The square base dates it to after the 1940s, and the off-center "scar" at the bottom suggests it was formed on a blown parison mold. Home milk delivery dates back to 1785 in rural Vermont, and the first glass milk bottle was patented in the U.S. in 1874; advertisements didn't appear on milk bottles until the 1920s, etched onto the glass using a sandblasting technique.
