Each hollow plastic Santa head stands about 3 inches tall and 2 inches wide. The box is marked "Christmas 10 Light Set," carries a UL mark, and states, "This is not a toy. This is a Christmas Decoration." Originally sold as a string of lights, the lights are long gone, this lot includes the ten Santa covers and the original box only. These can be added directly to your own light string and spaced as you'd like.
A fun find for collectors of vintage Christmas lighting and boxes, or for anyone who wants a retro Santa display.
These Santa covers come from the years when Taiwan was becoming the center of the world's Christmas light trade, home to the largest Christmas light export industry anywhere. The change reached American homes too: by about 1978, nearly all light sets sold in the United States, even those from names like General Electric and Westinghouse, were made overseas. A ten-light set dressed up with novelty covers like these was an fun way to give a tree some personality, and the box graphics are a time capsule of that era.
