The body is vinyl over a metal shell in matte black with a plastic insulating liner, banded top and bottom in bright metallic gold trim, with a clear lid and a golden metal ring handle.
A handsome stand-in for a rolling bar cart or a shelf of barware, as good for holding ice as it is for holding its own as decor.
Clipper ships, the fast sailing vessels of the mid-1800s, were built in great numbers in Massachusetts yards, which is part of why a tall ship under full sail feels so at home on New England barware. This bucket carries the Shelton Designs name alongside the Towle mark. Towle Silversmiths traces its roots to 1690, when William Moulton II became the first silversmith in Newbury, Massachusetts, and Anthony Francis Towle, who apprenticed in the Moulton tradition, founded the Towle Manufacturing Company in Newburyport in 1882. By the mid-twentieth century the Towle name extended well beyond sterling to giftware and barware like this, with the glamour of the cocktail hour built right into the design.
