A wonderful gift for the MCM collector, the Russel Wright enthusiast, or anyone who appreciates the intersection of art and function on a bar cart. Because it's an open ice bowl rather than a lidded bucket, it doubles beautifully as a serving bowl, candy dish, or standalone decorative piece.
The Asterisk pattern is one of the most sought-after designs from Bartlett Collins's Oklahoma Line, created in collaboration with Russel Wright — the American designer who nearly single-handedly defined the look of mid-century domestic life. Bartlett-Collins was founded in 1914 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, by oil man H.U. Bartlett and glassmaker George F. Collins, and became one of Oklahoma's most important manufacturers. Russel Wright, born in 1904, was one of America's most influential industrial designers, best known for his American Modern dinnerware. These sell for over $100 when they surface — and they don't surface often.
