This complete 7-piece McKee Glass Hostess Caddy set is a genuine mid-century holy grail, anchored by pristine, fired-on enamel decals of tomatoes, radishes, and beets — a highly collected motif — paired with an elegant wire carrier and three glass serving dishes that have survived together, since the late 1940s.

• Condition: Very Good. Please read:  The fired-on enamel vegetable decals are in immaculate condition, with vibrant color and no notable paint loss. The wire caddy is structurally sound, with genuine mid-century patina, and the wooden lids show minor wear. As is standard for 80-year-old utility glassware, the inner rims of the glass dishes show light historical roughness and chips from decades of careful use — completely hidden once the lids are in place and with no effect on structural integrity.  One jar has a small chip on the rim.  The spoons are not original to the set.  Please review photos closely before purchasing, as all sales are final.

While individual McKee "Fridgies" are common collectors' items on their own, finding the original hostess set — complete with the elegant wire carrier rack and the easily lost round condiment jars, matching lids, and serving spoons (not original to the set) — is an exceptional rarity. This is the complete set, all seven pieces present and accounted for:

• 1 large rectangular McKee dish & lid — smooth glass base with a flat-top printed glass lid
• 2 smaller square McKee dishes & lids — sized to nest side-by-side alongside the larger dish
• 2 round condiment jars with matching wooden lids — each lid with a spoon notch, original to the set
• 2 glass serving spoons —  (one per jar). Please note that while these were purchased with the set, they are not original to it and do not fit perfectly within the lid slots.
• 1 heavy-gauge wire carrier rack — structural metal caddy with a built-in handle

McKee Glass Company got its start in Pittsburgh in 1852 before relocating to Jeannette, Pennsylvania, in 1888, where it grew into one of the country's major pressed-glass manufacturers through the first half of the 20th century. Alongside its decorative colored glass lines, McKee produced huge quantities of practical kitchenware — mixing bowls, canisters, and the refrigerator dishes collectors now call "Fridgies" — sold through five-and-dimes and department stores nationwide. This set carries McKee's identifying mark: a blank, concentric circle stamped into the glass bottom, left smooth at the center. That detail sets it apart from nearly identical dishes by rival Federal Glass, which always stamped an "F" inside a shield at the center of the same circle. McKee was acquired by Thatcher Glass Manufacturing in 1951 and continued production under new ownership afterward.
