COBY's Wide-Eyed Pets were a phenomenon of the late 1960s and early 1970s — soft-focus lithographed animals with oversized eyes and gentle expressions that ended up framed on walls as often as they were sent in the mail. This card is from The Pet Set series: a fluffy white dog (Old English Sheepdog? Lhasa Apso? Shih Tzu? The ambiguity is part of the charm) carrying a gift, printed in soft, pleasing colors with embossed detail. The inside reads: "Everyone can see, you're the greatest! Happy Birthday!!" This one has been used — signed in ink inside, no envelope — but the front is the thing, and the front is wonderful. Marked "Litho'd in Canada" on the reverse.
Frame it for a child's room, a nursery, a dog lover's study, or anywhere that could use a little wide-eyed charm.
