A die-cut gray and white kitten with a real red fabric ribbon, and a little story booklet inside, still unused after a century.

  • Materials: Paper, with fabric ribbon
  • Dimensions: 8.5 x 5 inches
  • Origin: USA
  • Era: Antique 1920s
  • Condition: Very good for its age; New Old Stock, blank and never used. As a paper piece it was never expected to survive, so the small tear on the front cover, wear on the page edges and staple rust are all to be expected. No writing, and no envelope. Please review photos closely before purchasing, as all sales are final.

The front cover is embossed and trimmed with a real fabric red ribbon, and reads "Scamper And I Wish You a Merry Christmas." Inside is a short story booklet of 4 two-sided pages with text and illustrations.

Charming for a child, though because of its age, rarity and condition it will be most appreciated by a card and ephemera collector. Cards like this are very rare.

Novelty greeting cards that doubled as little keepsakes, with die-cut shapes, embossing and fabric trim, were popular in the early 1900s, and a story tucked inside turned the card into a small gift. Pieces like this one rarely survive unused, and fewer still keep their ribbon.
